It is a record of an expense for which the original receipt is unavailable. It explains what was purchased, the business purpose, the payment, why the receipt is missing and what other evidence is available. An authorised reviewer decides how to handle the expense.
It does not automatically meet invoice, tax or reimbursement requirements. Those depend on the relevant country, expense and company policy. Request a duplicate from the supplier first and have your finance or tax adviser assess the evidence.
A statement can help establish the merchant, payment date and amount. It may not show what was bought or the business purpose, so attach other available records and leave the acceptance decision to the reviewer.
