Company Credit Card with No SCHUFA Check: The 2026 Guide for German Teams

Frequently Asked Questions

Strictly speaking, no. A genuine credit card extends a revolving line after a Bonitätsprüfung, which is the underwriting step that requires SCHUFA. What is sold as a 'Firmenkreditkarte ohne SCHUFA' is almost always a prepaid, debit, or charge-style corporate Visa or Mastercard funded from a company balance or Geschäftskonto. Functionally it behaves like a credit card at the point of sale — same Visa network, same merchant acceptance, same online payments — but you fund the spend rather than borrowing it. For most employee, fleet, and travel use cases that distinction is irrelevant, but if you need a 30–60 day float, keep a separate credit instrument.
Yes. Founders who moved to Germany recently or who have no long-term consumer credit footprint are exactly the buyers prepaid Firmenkarten were built for. Because there is no credit line being extended, the issuer does not need a SCHUFA-Auskunft on the Geschäftsführer — they only verify identity and the legal entity (HRB-Auszug, beneficial-owner KYC, Geschäftskonto details). Most providers in this category can onboard a newly registered GmbH or UG (haftungsbeschränkt) within a few business days and issue virtual cards the same day onboarding completes. Compare two or three providers before signing, because fees and DATEV support vary.
Virtual cards from modern providers are typically issued in minutes from the admin dashboard. Once you create the card, it appears in the employee's wallet app (Apple Pay or Google Pay) and is usable immediately for online and in-store payments at any Visa or Mastercard merchant. Physical cards follow by post within three to seven working days for use cases that require chip-and-PIN at fuel pumps or ticket machines. For a fleet driver starting Monday, this means the card can pay for diesel at the first stop without waiting for a Hausbank to courier a piece of plastic.
The good ones do, and you should treat it as a hard requirement. Look for either a direct connector to DATEV Unternehmen online or a DATEV-formatted CSV export that includes booking dates, amounts, VAT lines, contra accounts, and a stable transaction ID. Without this, your Steuerberater spends hours reformatting every month, which erodes most of the time savings the card promised. Rally, Pleo, Moss, and Qonto all support DATEV in some form. Confirm during your pilot that your specific Kontenrahmen (SKR03 or SKR04) maps cleanly and that VAT lines come through correctly on cross-border transactions.
Practical limits, not credit limits. Because each card draws from a shared corporate balance rather than a per-card credit line, providers do not underwrite cards individually and you can usually issue tens or hundreds without friction. The real constraint is operational: each card needs an owner, a policy, and a receipt-capture habit. Teams routinely run 50 to 200 active employee and driver cards once they have set per-card limits, MCC restrictions, and a clean off-boarding process. Above that scale, ask vendors specifically about admin tooling, multi-entity export, and SSO — that is where weaker products start to break down.
Most generic expense-card providers treat fuel and EV charging like any other Visa transaction — it works, but you do not get fleet-specific features like VAT-line capture for refueling, pump-level reconciliation, or a unified EV charging network. Closed-loop Tankkarten (Aral, Shell, DKV, UTA) solve fleet specifics but do not help with the rest of an employee's spend. Rally is built for this overlap: one Visa accepted at every fuel station and EV charger across Europe, with fuel and energy data captured at the transaction level and exported to DATEV alongside office expenses. For mixed fleets and teams, that single-stack approach removes the trade-off.
Using a prepaid Firmenkarte does not directly affect the company's SCHUFA Wirtschaftsauskunft because there is no credit line being reported. The card transactions are settled from your own balance, so there is nothing to underwrite or report as outstanding debt. That said, a clean prepaid card history does not help you build a Bonität either — if your goal is to qualify for a traditional Firmenkreditkarte or a Hausbank line down the road, you still need to demonstrate creditworthiness through invoices paid on time, a profitable Jahresabschluss, and an established trading history. Treat the prepaid card as an operations tool, not a credit-building one.
